Faux feeling Something done to me

Trampled

Not a feeling: a thought about what someone did.

Also known as walked on

‘I think you went straight over my wishes and limits.’

Why it’s not a feeling

Trampled paints the other person as having walked straight over you: your wishes, your limits, what you said. Like ‘walked on’, it is a picture of their conduct, drawn from where you stood. What rises in you is more likely anger, frustration or hurt.

Feelings underneath

Needs

When these needs aren’t met

Saying it as a feeling

‘I feel trampled.’

When I said I didn’t want the party at our flat and you sent out the invitations anyway, I felt angry and frustrated, because I need respect and consideration.
