Faux feeling Something done to me

Harassed

Not a feeling: a thought about what someone did.

Also known as stalked

‘I think you keep targeting me when I want it to stop.’

Why it’s not a feeling

Harassed names a pattern you see in someone’s behaviour: repeated contact or pressure after you have asked for it to stop. It fits ‘you harassed me’, so it describes their conduct as you read it, not what is happening inside you. Naming that pattern can matter a great deal, and next to it there is often fear, anger or a body that will not settle.

Feelings underneath

Needs

When these needs aren’t met

Saying it as a feeling

‘I feel harassed.’

When you sent me eleven messages after I asked you to stop contacting me, I felt afraid and angry, because I need safety and space.
