Faux feeling Something done to me

Discredited

Not a feeling: a thought about what someone did.

‘I think you’ve made others doubt me or my word.’

Why it’s not a feeling

To be discredited is to believe someone has made others doubt you or your word. That is a claim about conversations you may not have witnessed, and about your standing in other people’s eyes. What you find in yourself may be anger, hurt or frustration.

Feelings underneath

Needs

When these needs aren’t met

Saying it as a feeling

‘I feel discredited.’

When you posted in the residents’ group that my noise complaints were made up, I felt angry and hurt, because I need trust and respect.
