Faux feeling Something done to me

Coerced

Not a feeling: a thought about what someone did.

‘I think you are forcing me into something I have not freely chosen.’

Why it’s not a feeling

Coerced asserts that someone is forcing your hand. It points at the pressure they apply rather than the life inside you, and it assumes you know how hard they meant to push. Paying attention to the fear, anger or resentment underneath can show you which choice you want back.

Feelings underneath

Needs

When these needs aren’t met

Saying it as a feeling

‘I feel coerced.’

When you said you would tell the family about my debts unless I signed the form, I felt afraid and resentful, because I need choice and freedom.
