Faux feeling Something done to me

Tricked

Not a feeling: a thought about what someone did.

‘I think you fooled me on purpose.’

Why it’s not a feeling

For you to be tricked, someone has to have fooled you on purpose, so the word carries a judgement of both their act and their intent. Say ‘I think you tricked me’ instead and nothing is lost. Often there is embarrassment at having believed it, along with anger or resentment.

When these needs aren’t met

Saying it as a feeling

‘I feel tricked.’

When I learned the ‘free’ upgrade you recommended had been taking £15 a month from my account, I felt embarrassed and angry, because I need honesty and trust.
