Faux feeling A judgement of myself

Stupid

Not a feeling: a judgement of yourself.

Also known as foolish

‘I think I am not clever, or that I did something senseless.’

Why it’s not a feeling

Stupid is a label you put on yourself, usually straight after a mistake. It sums up your whole mind on the strength of one moment, which makes it an opinion, not a feeling. Look at what is going on in you instead: embarrassed, perhaps, or frustrated, or ashamed.

Feelings underneath

Needs

When these needs aren’t met

Saying it as a feeling

‘I feel stupid.’

When I sent the email to the whole department instead of just to Priya, I felt embarrassed and frustrated, because I need competence and learning.
