Faux feeling Something done to me

Praised

Not a feeling: a thought about what someone did.

Also known as complimented

‘I think you said good things about me or my work.’

Why it’s not a feeling

Praised refers to what someone said about you or your work. It is a welcome reading, but it still describes their words rather than your experience, and ‘you praised me’ fits easily. The feelings with it can be mixed: pleased or proud, and sometimes a little embarrassed.

Saying it as a feeling

‘I feel praised.’

When you told the client my design was the reason we won the contract, I felt pleased and proud, because I need recognition and appreciation.
