Faux feeling Something done to me

Honoured

Not a feeling: a thought about what someone did.

‘I think you showed me a high mark of regard.’

Why it’s not a feeling

Honoured says someone has shown you a mark of high regard: an invitation, a title, a place of trust. It is a warm reading of their action, and it fits ‘you honoured me’, which makes it an interpretation rather than a feeling. What it stirs might be closer to touched, grateful or quietly proud.

Saying it as a feeling

‘I feel honoured.’

When you asked me to give a speech at your wedding, I felt touched and grateful, because I need recognition and respect.
