Faux feeling Something done to me
Dumped on
Not a feeling: a thought about what someone did.
‘I think you are unloading your problems or anger onto me.’
Why it’s not a feeling
Dumped on pictures someone unloading their troubles or temper and leaving you holding them. It describes their behaviour, coloured by how much it cost you to receive it. Left with it, you may notice anger, resentment or the plain overwhelm of carrying too much.
Feelings underneath
Needs
When these needs aren’t met
Saying it as a feeling
‘I feel dumped on.’
When you rang at eleven at night, talked for an hour about your boss and said goodnight without asking how I was, I felt overwhelmed and resentful, because I need consideration and peace.
