Faux feeling A judgement of myself
Good enough
Not a feeling: a judgement of yourself.
Also known as adequate
‘I think I measure up.’
Why it’s not a feeling
Good enough measures you against a standard and says you pass. That is a rating of yourself, a thought about what you are, and it can flip the moment the standard moves. Underneath the score, ask what is there: maybe you are relieved, or simply content.
Feelings underneath
Needs
When these needs are met
Saying it as a feeling
‘I feel good enough.’
When I read back the speech I’d written for my sister’s wedding and left it as it was, I felt relieved and content, because I need self-worth and acceptance.
